Joanne Kostecky, president/owner of Joanne Kostecky Garden Design, Inc., Allentown, Pa., is immediate past president of the American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA), a Washington, DC-based trade association representing over 2,200 firms who grow, sell, and use landscape plants.
Kostecky is the owner and lead designer of Garden Design. For more than 21 years. she has worked to earn her reputation on the use of unique plant material that guarantees a multi-season look for an outdoor lifestyle. The company was responsible for introducing ornamental grasses into the design vocabulary of the Lehigh Valley.
Kostecky attended Rutgers University and numerous horticultural and design-related institutes and seminars throughout her career. With her experience and educational background, she speaks on the art of landscape design on the national level. She has appeared at ANLA's Management Clinic, the Perennial Plant Association Symposium, and the Winter Landscape Conference sponsored by Pennsylvania State University.
Kostecky and Garden Design have been featured in articles appearing in The Wall Street Journal, Home, Homestyle and Gardening, Southern Living, Landscape and Irrigation, American Nurseryman, Nouveau, The Morning Call, Lehigh Valley Women, and Lehigh Valley Magazine. She has been represented in a variety of books most notably Perennials published by Rodale Press in 1995 and Perennials for Every Purpose published by Rodale Organic Gardening in 2000.
Kostecky's previous ANLA association leadership positions include serving as president of ANLA's National Landscape Association division and as an ANLA governor for Pennsylvania.
