Morris Newlin, President/CEO of New Garden Landscaping & Nursery, Inc. in Greensboro, NC is Region 2 Director of the American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA), a Washington, DC-based trade association representing nearly 2,200 firms who grow, sell, and use landscape plants.
New Garden Landscaping & Nursery employs more than 200 people and provides products and services to residential, commercial, and retail customers. Morris has volunteered service to the Extension Advisory Council of the North Carolina Landscape Association. He has been on the ANLA’s Landscape Division and served as president in 2005-2006. In 2005, Morris was recognized by the Landscape Division and received their "Excellence in Leadership" Award.
Morris is advocating ANLA members to be leaders environmentally by recycling and by practicing responsible pesticide use, water management, and plant selection. A significant development in his business has been a reorganization of management in order to be more profitable in order to sustain the business. Responsibilities are being shifted to managers who are structuring their own teams. The teams are pushing responsibility for quality, efficiency, and customer service, to the most direct level, the customer.
Morris represents ANLA's Region 2 covering the southeastern United States.
