The May 31st deadline to submit the Census of Agriculture forms is fast approaching. These data are collected every five years and provide vital information to agribusinesses, town planners, local governments, and policy makers. ANLA relies heavily on the data to highlight the size and importance of our unique segment of agriculture to federal agencies and Congress.

ANLA and HRI need ALL Green Industry members to help set our research goals and priorities for the next 5 years. The compiled results of the online survey will assist HRI in establishing funding priorities for its competitive research grants program and advise the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service to focus federal research dollars on critical industry issues through the Floriculture & Nursery Research Initiative. HRI seeks grant applications for FY2014. The May 15 deadline is approaching! HRI particularly seeks proposals for research focusing on:
  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) in nursery crop production systems;
  • Regulatory issues and emerging opportunities in the nursery and landscape industry; Environmentally responsible management practices;
  • Research that increases nursery crop producers' business and financial expertise;
  • Research that expands the market for plant material.

The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI) is accepting grant applications for horticultural projects designed to improve the efficiency and profitability of the Green Industry. The deadline for applications is May 15, 2013. Horticultural research and promotion is essential to the success of horticultural professionals and businesses. Scientists are encouraged to submit proposals for research that may expand profit opportunities for the Green Industry.

The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI) is pleased to announce it is accepting scholarship applications for 2013. HRI will award $21,000 in student scholarships in 2013. The HRI Endowment Fund is composed of several scholarship funds that aid students who are seeking a lifelong career in horticulture. HRI and its member firms consider graduating students in horticulture to be the lifeblood of the green industry.
